A mounted attachment, regardless of make, requires a hydraulic / mounting installation kit in order to operate off the excavator, loader backhoe, skid-steer or mini-excavator. Allied offers over 2,500 Allied-engineered installation kits to fit virtually every make and model carrier.
These kits include the necessary hydraulic fittings, hoses, valves, hardware and instructions required to mount an attachment to your machine. Allied kits permit simultaneous operation of both the attachment and positioning functions of your machine. Each kit is designed to maximize the efficiency of your attachment and carrier.
- Single-Acting for Breakers, Compactors, Rotary Cutters. These attachments process oil in one direction, and require low back pressure on the return. Our kit returns oil directly to the hydraulic reservoir.
- Double-Acting for Thumbs, Shears, Crushers, Grapples. These attachments typically utilize a cylinder that must extend and retract, and so require a circuit that can route oil bi-directionally.
- Dual-Purpose With the addition of some special valving (custom made for HydrauliCircuit Technology), we can offer kits that are easily converted from single to double-acting, allowing your carrier to operate various attachments, for example a shear and a breaker.
- Second-Function We stock special directional valves that make it easy to add more auxiliary circuits to operate, for example, a rotating function on a crusher.
General safety guidelines
- Obtain 'Service Manual' on your carrier machine from the manufacturer. Study and follow all safety recommendations. If there are discrepancies between our guidelines and those of the manufacturer, the manufacturers safety instructions must take precedence. This is especially important as regards welding procedures.
- Always wear safety glasses and protective clothing when installing or adjusting hydraulic components.
- Disconnect the battery cables before any electrical circuit is added or modified.
- Bleed pressure from the hydraulic tank before loosening any hydraulic connection during installation.
- Before welding, disconnect battery cables, and cover all cylinder rods and other vulnerable components with wet rags.
- Always ground the welding lead in such a way that current cannot arc across bearings or other main components.
- Due to the nature of oil under high-pressure, it is necessary to use a piece of cardboard to check for possible leaks in the circuit.
Why is the pressure not building up?
It is necessary to understand that the pump only creates flow and that, resistance to flow develops pressure. So, if the pressure and return lines are tied together and a gauge is installed in the line, the gauge would read theoretically zero (in actuality, it will read the back pressure in the return line).
There are many different reasons for pressure not building up. As a preliminary step, a couple of things can be checked:
- Check oil level in hydraulic reservoir.
- Check to see if 'Safety lock' is engaged.
- Check settings on port reliefs or in-line reliefs if any.
- Check shut-off valves.
- Check writing to make sure the actuation system is working.
